Born 1977 in Seattle, he successfully lobbied for a banjo at eight.

Skipping the local grunge scene and learning to play bluegrass at college in Ohio and Kentucky, he then moved to Maine, where he worked for a time as a commercial fisherman and in the state bluegrass association, and then on to Fargo, where he played the roadhouse circuit.

He worked as a house pianist in several states, including Massachusetts, Maine, Minnesota and North Dakota. His repertoire includes torch songs, classical soul and popular music from the 1950s-1970s.

In Prague by 2006, he led the Giant Mountains Band, 2011’s Czech bluegrass band of the year at Caslav, and wrote the material for their CD, “Long Lonesome Road.” He was the driving force behind touring European acoustic projects including Southern Wheel, Two Strikes Band and the Foul Tip Collective.

He has worked as a singer and guitarist/pianist on transatlantic cruise ships since 2015 and lives in Los Angeles.
